My outdoor family sessions take place at sunset — the golden hour when the light turns warm, soft and impossibly flattering. In spring, my heathland location glows with warm russet tones — a rich, textured backdrop that gives family portraits a timeless, earthy quality. As the season turns to late summer, the heather transforms into a carpet of deep, vibrant purple that has to be seen to be believed. From July through to September, my meadow location comes alive — long golden grasses swaying in the evening breeze, catching the last of the sun in a way that makes every image feel luminous and alive.

From the moment you arrive, the session is yours. There's no rush, no rigid shot list and no expectation of perfection — just a relaxed, guided experience designed to bring out the best in your family naturally.
I work gently with children of all ages — from babies and toddlers taking their first steps to older children and teenagers — and I'm experienced at drawing out genuine smiles, laughter and connection without resorting to forced poses. Sessions are completely child-led, which means if little ones need time to warm up, run around or explore, that's exactly what we do. And if the family dog is coming along, they're very welcome too.
Your edited gallery will be ready within two to three weeks, delivered to a secure online gallery from which you can select your favourite images and explore print and wall art options at your leisure.

Where do outdoor sessions take place?
I shoot at two beautiful and carefully selected locations just minutes from Godalming — a stunning heathland setting and a beautiful long grass meadow available from July to September. Both are chosen for their exceptional evening light and natural beauty. I keep the exact locations private but I promise the short drive is very much worth it — and for Godalming families, both spots are practically on your doorstep.
What time do 'golden hour' sessions start?
Session start times vary throughout the year depending on the sunset time. In midsummer, sessions may start as late as 7:30 or 8pm, while in spring and autumn they'll be earlier in the evening. I'll always confirm your exact start time well in advance so you can plan around bedtimes and evening routines.
What if we have very young children or babies?
Family sessions are completely child-led and there's no pressure on little ones to perform. Babies and toddlers are very welcome at both studio and outdoor sessions. For very young babies, the studio is often the most comfortable option — warm, calm and close to home for Godalming families.
How do I book a summer mini session?
Summer mini sessions are released in limited batches on selected dates and book up very quickly. I'd recommend getting in touch as soon as possible to register your interest — I'll add you to my priority notification list so you're among the first to hear when new dates go live.
What if the weather is bad on the day of our session?
I monitor the weather carefully in the days leading up to every outdoor session. If conditions aren't suitable — heavy rain, strong winds or very poor light — I'll be in touch to discuss rescheduling. A light overcast sky can actually produce beautifully even, soft light for photography, so we won't always need to rearrange for clouds. I'll always make the call that's in the best interest of your images.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes — well-behaved dogs are very welcome at outdoor sessions and often add a wonderful natural energy to family portraits. Just mention it when you enquire so I can plan accordingly.
What should we wear?
Soft neutrals and co-ordinated tones work beautifully against the natural heathland and meadow backdrops. Once your session is booked I'll send you a full styling guide with outfit inspiration tailored to the season and location of your shoot.
