haslemere NEWBORN photographer
Beautifully crafted newborn portraits for Haslemere families — captured in my natural light Godalming studio
The newborn days are extraordinary — and over before you know it. The softness, the smallness, the way your baby sleeps curled against you as if the world outside doesn't exist yet. A newborn photoshoot preserves all of it: those details you're certain you'll never forget, but which time has a way of softening.
I'm Kayleigh, a specialist newborn and family photographer based in Milford, Godalming — around 15 minutes from Haslemere along the A286. I'm proud to serve families across the Surrey Hills and welcome clients regularly from Haslemere, Hindhead, Grayswood, Liphook and the beautiful villages nestled in and around the South Downs border. It would be a genuine honour to photograph your new arrival.
A gentle studio experience — within easy reach of Haslemere
My home studio in Godalming is a calm, unhurried space — warm, softly lit and entirely dedicated to making your session as peaceful as possible. There are no other clients, no background noise, no sense of being rushed through. Just you, your baby, a cup of tea, and time.
Every session is completely led by your baby's needs. We pause for feeds, settle for cuddles, and work with whatever mood your little one brings on the day. I have undertaken specialist training in safe newborn posing and handling, so while I work carefully and patiently with your baby, you can simply breathe, relax, and be present.
Sessions typically last up to three hours, and in that time we work through a range of setups — from beautifully wrapped poses and delicate detail shots to family portraits and sibling cuddles that capture the fullness of this moment in your family's story.

What Families Say
Newborn and baby photography FAQs - Haslemere
When to book - guidance for Haslemere families?
The ideal window for newborn photography is within the first two to three weeks after birth. At this age, babies tend to sleep more deeply and settle into those naturally curled poses that make newborn portraits so timeless. I recommend getting in touch during your pregnancy — from around 28 weeks — so we can provisionally hold a studio date around your due date.
Once your baby arrives, we simply confirm the timing to suit you both. I always build flexibility into newborn bookings — because babies arrive on their own schedule, and that's perfectly fine.
If your baby is already here and you're worried it might be too late, please don't hesitate to reach out. I photograph babies well beyond the newborn stage and there are beautiful images to be made at every age. The magic doesn't have an expiry date.
Can I include my other children in the session?
Absolutely, and I'd love for you to. Some of the most moving images from any newborn session are the ones showing an older sibling holding or gazing at their new baby. I'm experienced at working with children of all ages and temperaments — patience and gentleness are very much part of how I work.
How long does a newborn or baby session last?
Newborn and baby sessions are completely baby-led and typically last up to 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling.
For older babies, sessions are often shorter and more playful, but still relaxed and unhurried.
Is there anything I need to prepare before the session?
Very little — that's the idea. I provide all wraps, props and studio accessories. Simply bring your usual feeding supplies, a spare outfit for baby, and yourselves. I'll guide you through everything else from the moment you arrive.
Where do newborn and baby sessions take place?
Sessions take place in my calm, cosy home studio in Milford, Surrey, which is fully equipped and kept warm for babies of all ages.
Everything is designed to help you feel relaxed and looked after from the moment you arrive.
Do you ever come to Haslemere for at home or outdoor sessions?
For newborn sessions, my studio is always the right environment — warmth and calm are essential for very young babies. However, for older baby and family sessions, the countryside around Haslemere and the Surrey Hills is truly stunning, and I'm very happy to discuss outdoor location shoots in the area. I can come to your home for a more personal lifestyle photo session - Do ask when you get in touch.
What if my baby won't sleep during the session?
This is more common than you might think, and it's absolutely not a problem. Awake babies give us wonderful opportunities — eye contact, expressions, and those alert, curious looks that are just as beautiful as a sleeping pose. I adapt the session to wherever your baby is on the day.
How far is your studio from Haslemere?
My Godalming studio is located in Milford, approximately 10 miles from Haslemere — around 15 minutes via the A286 north. It's a straightforward and scenic drive through the Surrey Hills, and there's free parking right outside the studio when you arrive.
What's the best route from Haslemere to your studio?
Head north on the A286 through straight to Milford — it's one of the most direct routes and takes you through some beautiful Surrey countryside. Most Haslemere families find it a very easy and pleasant drive, even in those tender early postpartum weeks.
What if my baby is unsettled on the day?
Ready to book your Haslemere newborn session?
Unsettled babies are entirely normal and completely manageable. I never rush a session, and I'm experienced at working through the unpredictable rhythms of early parenthood. An awake, alert baby can produce just as beautiful images as a deeply sleeping one — often more expressive and full of personality.
I keep my diary deliberately small to ensure every family receives an unhurried, personal experience. If you're expecting and would like to plan ahead, or your baby is already here and you'd like to book soon, I'd love to hear from you. Get in touch and let's start planning your session together.
