NEWBORN photographer Cranleigh
Preserving your baby's earliest moments — a short drive from Cranleigh to my cosy Godalming studio
Those first days with a new baby are unlike anything else. The world slows down, everything else falls away, and you find yourself memorising every tiny detail — the curl of a fist, the flutter of eyelashes, the way your baby sighs and settles against your chest. A newborn photoshoot captures all of it, so that when time does what time always does, you'll still be able to hold those moments close.
I'm Kayleigh, a specialist newborn and family photographer based in Godalming — just over 20 minutes from Cranleigh via the B2130. I'm delighted to welcome families from Cranleigh, Ewhurst, Alfold, Bramley and across the Weald to my studio, and would love to be the person trusted to photograph your new arrival.
In fact, I have a particularly special connection to the Cranleigh community — some of my most cherished client reviews have come from Cranleigh families, and it's a village I know and love well.
A peaceful studio experience — easily reachable from Cranleigh
My home studio in Godalming is purpose-built for newborn sessions — warm, softly lit, and tucked away from the noise of the world. It's a genuinely relaxing space, designed so that from the moment you step through the door, the session feels easy and unhurried.
There is no clock-watching here. Sessions are entirely baby-led, which means we move at whatever pace your little one needs — pausing for feeds, taking time to settle, working gently through each setup without any sense of rush. I have completed specialist training in safe newborn posing and handling, so while I work carefully and attentively with your baby, you can simply enjoy being together as a new family.
Over the course of up to three hours, we'll capture a beautiful range of images — wrapped and posed close-ups, soft detail shots of hands and feet, and natural family portraits that tell the full story of this moment.

What Families Say
Newborn and baby photography FAQs - Cranleigh
When to book - advice for Cranleigh families?
Newborn photography works beautifully in the first two to three weeks of life. At this stage, babies tend to sleep more deeply, curl naturally, and settle into the gentle poses that make newborn portraits so timeless. Because of this, I recommend getting in touch from around 28 weeks of pregnancy, so I can hold a provisional studio slot around your due date.
Once your baby arrives safely, we confirm a date that suits your family and adjust timing as needed — flexibility is always built in, because birth plans rarely survive contact with real life, and that's completely fine.
Already had your baby and worried you've missed the window? Please don't be. I photograph babies at every stage — from brand new arrivals to wide-eyed six-week-olds and beyond — and there are wonderful images to be created at any age. Don't hesitate to get in touch, whatever your baby's age.
Can my toddler or older children come too?
Absolutely. Sibling portraits are some of the most treasured images that come out of a newborn session. I work gently and patiently with children of all ages, making sure they feel included and at ease rather than on show. Even a reluctant older sibling usually comes around once they feel comfortable — and those candid moments often make for the most beautiful photographs.
How long does a newborn or baby session last?
Newborn and baby sessions are completely baby-led and typically last up to 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling.
For older babies, sessions are often shorter and more playful, but still relaxed and unhurried.
what do I need to bring?
Very little — everything in the studio is provided. I have a full selection of wraps, props, blankets and accessories, so there's nothing you need to source or prepare in advance. Just bring your feeding supplies, a spare outfit for baby, and yourselves. I'll take care of the rest.
Where do newborn and baby sessions take place?
Sessions take place in my calm, cosy home studio in Milford, Surrey, which is fully equipped and kept warm for babies of all ages.
Everything is designed to help you feel relaxed and looked after from the moment you arrive.
What if I'm unsure whether to book studio or outdoor?
For newborn sessions, the studio is always the right choice — the warmth and calm of a controlled environment is important for very young babies. As your baby grows, outdoor sessions in the Surrey countryside become a wonderful option. Cranleigh and the surrounding Weald offer gorgeous green landscapes, and I'm very happy to discuss family or older baby outdoor sessions in the area.
What if my baby won't settle during the session?
This is one of the most common worries parents have before a newborn session, and I promise it's nothing to stress about. I work slowly and gently, and I'm experienced at soothing and settling babies. An unsettled or wakeful baby simply means we adapt — and often those alert, wide-eyed images become a family's absolute favourites.
How far is your studio from Cranleigh?
My studio in Godalming is approximately 9 miles from Cranleigh village — around 20 to 25 minutes via the B2130 through Bramley. It's a lovely rural drive through the Surrey Weald, and there's free parking directly outside the studio so you can unload the car with ease when you arrive.
What's the best route from Cranleigh to your studio?
The most direct route is the B2130 west through Bramley, joining the A281 briefly before coming into Godalming. It's a pleasant, straightforward drive through quiet Surrey lanes and countryside — most Cranleigh families find it a very manageable journey even in those early postpartum weeks.
What if my baby is unsettled on the day?
Book your Cranleigh newborn photography session
Unsettled babies are entirely normal and completely manageable. I never rush a session, and I'm experienced at working through the unpredictable rhythms of early parenthood. An awake, alert baby can produce just as beautiful images as a deeply sleeping one — often more expressive and full of personality.
I work with a deliberately small number of families each month, so that every session gets the time, care and personal attention it deserves. Whether you're planning ahead during pregnancy or your baby has already arrived, I'd love to hear from you. Get in touch today and let's start creating something beautiful together.
