Godalming NEWBORN photographer
Your local newborn photographer — studio sessions in Milford, just minutes from Godalming town centre
There is something quietly extraordinary about the newborn stage. The weight of a sleeping baby on your chest. The impossibly small fingers. The way the whole world seems to contract into this one tiny, perfect person. It goes so quickly — and a newborn photoshoot is how you make sure you never forget a single detail of it.
I'm Kayleigh, a specialist newborn and family photographer based in Milford — just a few minutes from Godalming town centre. My studio is genuinely local to you, which means no long journey with a brand new baby, no unfamiliar roads, and no stress before the session has even begun. I photograph families from across Godalming, Farncombe, Milford, Witley, Busbridge and the surrounding villages, and I'd be honoured to welcome your family through my door.
A calm and welcoming newborn studio in Milford, Godalming
My home studio sits in the heart of Milford, moments from the centre of Godalming. It's a warm, calm, beautifully equipped space — purpose-built for newborn sessions, with everything needed to keep your baby comfortable, settled and safe throughout.
Because I'm based right on your doorstep, sessions here feel genuinely different to travelling across the county to a commercial studio. You can arrive relaxed. You know the roads. You're close to home if you need to be. And from the moment you walk in, everything is designed to make you feel looked after — tea, warmth, no rushing, no other clients, just your family and your new baby.
Every session is completely led by your baby's needs. I have completed specialist training in safe newborn posing and handling, and I work with patience and care through every feed, every settle and every cuddle. Sessions last up to three hours, giving us plenty of time to capture a full and beautiful range of images — from delicate wrapped poses and close-up detail shots to family portraits with siblings and parents that tell the complete story of this moment.

What Godalming Families Say
Newborn and baby photography FAQs - Godalming
When to book - advice for Godalming parents?
The ideal window for newborn photography is within the first two to three weeks of life. At this age, babies tend to sleep more deeply and curl naturally into those beautiful, timeless poses. I recommend getting in touch from around 28 weeks of pregnancy so I can provisionally hold a studio slot around your due date.
Once your baby arrives, we confirm the timing together — I always build flexibility into newborn bookings, because due dates are a guide rather than a guarantee, and your comfort and readiness matter just as much as the date on the calendar.
Because my studio is so close to Godalming, I'm also particularly well placed to accommodate last-minute bookings — if your baby has just arrived and you'd love to book a session quickly, please do get in touch straight away and I'll do everything I can to find you a slot.
If your baby is a little older and you're worried you've missed the newborn window, please don't hesitate to reach out. I photograph babies at all stages and there are wonderful images to be made whenever you're ready.
Can older siblings join the session?
Absolutely, and I'd encourage it wholeheartedly. Sibling portraits are often the images families treasure most — that first meeting, the tentative touch, the proud big brother or sister gazing at their new baby. I work gently with children of all ages and temperaments, and making them feel involved and comfortable is very much part of how I approach every session.
How long does a newborn or baby session last?
Newborn and baby sessions are completely baby-led and typically last up to 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling.
For older babies, sessions are often shorter and more playful, but still relaxed and unhurried.
what do I need to bring?
Very little — everything in the studio is provided. I have a full selection of wraps, props, blankets and accessories, so there's nothing you need to source or prepare in advance. Just bring your feeding supplies, a spare outfit for baby, and yourselves. I'll take care of the rest.
Where exactly is your studio?
My studio is in Milford, which sits directly between Godalming and Haslemere on the A3100 — just a few minutes from Godalming town centre. There is free parking directly outside, making arrival straightforward even with a new baby and all the kit that comes with one.
Do you offer outdoor sessions in Godalming?
My newborn sessions always take place in the studio — warmth and calm are essential for very young babies. However, as your baby grows, Godalming and the surrounding area offers some truly beautiful outdoor locations for family and older baby sessions. The Lammas Lands, Broadwater Park and the countryside around Busbridge and Witley are all places I know and love for outdoor shoots. Do ask when you get in touch.
What if my baby won't settle during the session?
This is one of the most common worries parents have before a newborn session, and I promise it's nothing to stress about. I work slowly and gently, and I'm experienced at soothing and settling babies. An unsettled or wakeful baby simply means we adapt — and often those alert, wide-eyed images become a family's absolute favourites.
Are you close to Godalming Town Centre?
Milford is approximately 2 miles from Godalming High Street — around 5 minutes by car. If you're local to Godalming, Farncombe, Busbridge or Witley, you're practically on my doorstep. It really is as local as it gets.
What if my baby is unsettled on the day?
It happens, and it's completely fine. I'm experienced at working gently through the unpredictable rhythms of new parenthood, and I never rush a session. Whether your baby sleeps beautifully or keeps us on our toes, we will come away with images you love — I promise you that.
