Specialist newborn portraits for Woking families — crafted with care in my Godalming studio

Your baby is here. And already, in these first extraordinary days, you're aware of how quickly it's all moving. The newborn stage is one of the most fleeting of all — and a professional newborn photoshoot is how you make sure the details of it are never lost. Those tiny curled fingers, the way your baby sighs and settles, the incomprehensible smallness of everything — captured, preserved, yours to keep forever.

I'm Kayleigh, a specialist newborn and family photographer based in Godalming, Surrey — around 20 minutes from Woking via the A247 and A3. I regularly welcome families from Woking, Knaphill, Horsell, Pyrford, West Byfleet and across the Borough of Woking to my studio, and I would love to photograph your new arrival.

A calm, dedicated newborn studio — within easy reach of Woking

My home studio in Godalming is purpose-built for newborn photography. It's warm, quiet and softly lit — a world away from the noise and busyness of everyday life, and exactly the kind of environment a new baby needs to settle, sleep and be photographed beautifully.

From the moment you arrive, the session is entirely yours. There are no other clients, no background noise, no sense of being hurried through. Just your family, your new baby, a cup of tea, and all the time you need. I have completed specialist training in safe newborn posing and handling, so while I work carefully and patiently with your baby, you can simply relax and be present in these early days.

Sessions last up to three hours and cover a full range of images — from delicate wrapped poses and close-up detail shots of hands and feet, to natural family portraits and sibling cuddles that tell the complete, beautiful story of this moment in your family's life.

What Godalming Families Say

Newborn and baby photography FAQs - Woking

When to book - advice for Woking parents?

The ideal window for newborn photography is within the first two to three weeks of life. At this age, babies tend to sleep more deeply and curl naturally into the beautiful, timeless poses that make newborn portraits so special. Because of this, I recommend getting in touch from around 28 weeks of pregnancy so I can provisionally hold a studio slot around your due date.

Once your baby arrives safely, we simply confirm the timing that works best for your family. I always build flexibility into newborn bookings — due dates are a guide, and your comfort and readiness always come first.

If your baby has already arrived and you're worried about leaving it too late, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I photograph babies well beyond the newborn stage and there are wonderful images to be made at any age. The most important thing is that you reach out — even if you think you've missed the window, you almost certainly haven't.

Can my other children be part of the session?

Absolutely, and I'd encourage it. Sibling portraits are consistently among the most treasured images that come out of a newborn session — that first tender meeting, the pride on an older child's face, the gentle curiosity. I'm experienced at working with children of all ages and temperaments, and making them feel included and comfortable is a natural part of how I work.

How long does a newborn or baby session last?

Newborn and baby sessions are completely baby-led and typically last up to 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling.

For older babies, sessions are often shorter and more playful, but still relaxed and unhurried.

Do I need to bring anything to the session?

Very little — and that's entirely intentional. I provide all wraps, props, blankets and studio accessories. Simply bring your usual feeding supplies, a spare outfit for baby, and yourselves. A relaxed parent makes for a calm, settled baby, and I'll take care of everything else from the moment you walk through the door.

Where exactly is your studio?

My studio is in Milford, which sits directly between Godalming and Haslemere on the A3100 — just a few minutes from Godalming town centre. There is free parking directly outside, making arrival straightforward even with a new baby and all the kit that comes with one.

Do you travel to Woking for sessions

My newborn sessions generally take place in my Godalming studio, where I can control the warmth, lighting and calm environment that very young babies need. However, I do also travel to homes to home sessions and would love to do this. I am happy to discuss outdoor location shoots closer to Woking for family sessions — the countryside around Send, Ripley and the Wey Valley offers some beautiful settings. Do ask when you get in touch.

What if my baby won't settle during the session?

This is one of the most common worries parents have, and I promise it's nothing to stress about. I work slowly, gently and without any sense of rush — and I'm very experienced at soothing and settling babies. Whether your little one sleeps beautifully or keeps us on our toes, we will leave the session with images you love. An alert, awake baby often produces the most expressive and characterful portraits of all.

How far is the studio from Woking?

My studio in Godalming is approximately 14 miles from Woking town centre — around 20 to 25 minutes via the A247 south through Ripley and Guildford, then the A3100 into Godalming. It's a straightforward drive on well-known Surrey roads, and there is free parking directly outside the studio when you arrive.

What is the best route from Woking to your studio?

The most direct route is to head south on the A247 through Send and Ripley, joining the A3 briefly before taking the A3100 into Godalming. Many Woking families tell me it felt a very easy and pleasant drive — particularly once they're on the A3 and moving quickly through the Surrey countryside.
